About Me

I wanted to let everyone know a little about me and how I started crocheting, also where I got my name for my blog. To start my name stitchinshishums came about because my mom and my auntie called each other shishums as a cute little nickname for each other and my cousin Audrey and I now call each other that because my Mom died in 2002 in her sleep suddenly of a heart attack and Her Mom my Auntie died in 2004 of Breast /Liver cancer. We have always been more like sisters than cousins. So that is how I got my name.

The Next thing I wanted to share with you is how I started my journey in crocheting. My mom crocheted and she did the most beautiful tablecloths and doilies you have ever seen, I always wanted to learn how to crochet and when I was 10 she taught me the simple chain stitch and a few basic stitches. well the impatient little girl that I was would get mad and put it down and I would play around with the idea every once in a while. Well the years passed and when I was pregnant with my first child who is now 27 I wanted to make him a baby blanket and at the time I was staying with my Auntie so she taught me some other stitches and although my blanket didnt turn out quite like I wanted it I kept on trying. I put my hook down for a long while because as life happens I didnt have a whole lot of time to crochet with 3 active little boys and a house to run and I had to work a full time job to keep them in clothes, shoes, and food on the table and a roof over there heads.  It wasn’t until just a few years ago that I picked my hooks back up and started crocheting again. I crochet ona full time basis now. I crochet to heal!!! I also have a dream to sell my items and also to give back to all of those who gave to me. I hope to learn how to design my own items as well. My favorite thing to do is baby and children clothing, especially little girl dresses as I do not have any girls, I had all boys and grandsons. So when I get a chance to do a little girls dress I jump on it. So there is my little story. I hope you will share my journey with me.

Happy Crocheting!

Susanne
